Whey Isolate vs whey concentrate: what's the difference?

02/10/2026 · KYROX

Whey is one of the most popular proteins among people who work out. But between whey concentrate and Whey Isolate, the difference goes beyond the name.

Where does whey come from?

Whey is extracted from milk during cheesemaking: it's the liquid part. It is then filtered to concentrate the protein. The more it's filtered, the "purer" the protein.

Whey concentrate

It usually contains 70 to 80% protein. The rest is lactose, fat and minerals. It's cheaper, but can be harder to digest for people sensitive to lactose (bloating, discomfort).

Whey Isolate

Thanks to extra filtration, Whey Isolate generally reaches 90% protein or more, with very little lactose and fat. The result: a "lighter" protein that's often easier to digest, with a complete essential amino acid profile.

Which one should you choose?

If you digest dairy well and you're on a tight budget, concentrate can be enough. If you want a purer, lighter protein, Whey Isolate is the better choice. That's why KYROX gummies are made with Whey Isolate, not a protein blend.

Note: Whey Isolate is still a milk protein. It is not suitable for people with a milk protein allergy.

Want protein without the shaker? KYROX Protein Gummies deliver 10g of Whey Isolate per 4 gummies with 0g sugar. Cola, Mixed Berry or Peach.
